In this interview with Five Books, I give my favorite five books on religion in China.

My interlocutor was Alec Ash, a Beijing-based author of a new book on China’s millennial generation. Over whisky and crackers in my apartment, we discussed some of the best books on Daoism, Buddhism, Christianity and folk religion in China.
