BERLIN’S MOST UNSETTLING MEMORIAL

Germany is filled with memorials to the Holocaust, but for my money the most unsettling is the one created 20 years ago by Renata Stih and Frieder Schnock in a formerly Jewish district of Berlin called the Bavarian Quarter. In this blogpost for the NYRB, I walk through the district with the two artists, discussing the memorial, and its impact.
