This page gathers my formal academic work. Although all of my books have a full academic apparatus (standard endnotes, bibliography, and index), this page has articles or book chapters written for peer-reviewed journals. Unlike my other non-fiction writing, these pieces are aimed at academic rather than a general audience. Below are related articles and further down is a list of the articles and chapters. PhD Thesis
In 2020 I enrolled in Leipzig University’s PhD program under the direction of Professor Philip Clart. The project looks at working-class pilgrimage societies in Beijing, analyzing their relationship with the state.
